About Third Man Records

Third Man Records is Jack White's record label. It is distributed in America and most of the world through Warner Bros. Records and in the UK by XL Recordings.

In addition to The White Stripes' 6 albums, the label used to also be home to Grand Rapids, MI trio Whirlwind Heat. The label's name probably features the number three due to Jack's known fondness of it, as mentioned in several interviews with and articles on The White Stripes or his various other projects . It refers to Carol Reed's The Third Man starring Orson Welles. His old upholstering company was named Third Man Upholstery. White also refers to himself as the "Third Man" in the song "Ball and Biscuit" on the White Stripes' album Elephant. The film production company for Under Blackpool Lights was 'Third Man Films'.

White's latest project, The Raconteurs; with long time friends Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler of The Greenhornes albums, Broken Boy Soldiers and Consolers of the Lonely, carries the Third Man logo. For the Raconteurs tour of the UK in October 2006 very limited live albums were on sale, a 1000 pressed for each show, these also carries the third man label.
