Marymount Manhattan College is a small, coeducational liberal arts college located in Manhattan, New York City, New York. Marymount Manhattan's campus is located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. It's often referred to as MMC.

Marymount Manhattan College was founded in 1936 as a two- year woman's college by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. It was also an extension of Marymount College, Tarrytown in Tarrytown, New York. It moved to its current location in 1948. In 1950 it became a four year college and became independent in 1961. It currently serves a diverse community of students including men and nontraditional students.

After becoming independent in 1961, Marymount Manhattan College did not maintain its Catholic identity and did not consider or market itself as a Catholic college from that point forward. Despite this, Archbishop of New York Edward Cardinal Egan took it upon himself to officially declare the school to be no longer Catholic in 2005. This declaration meant that the school would no longer be listed in The Official Catholic Directory. It was the fourth school to be declared not Catholic by a Bishop after Pope John Paul II issued Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic universities, in 1990. The action of Cardinal Egan came in part after objections to the college inviting New York Senator and former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton to deliver the commencement address for the graduating class of 2005 despite her public support of abortion rights.
