Kristen Alison Hall is an American folk singer/songwriter. She started out as a roadie for the Indigo Girls, and overcame overwhelming shyness to start a performing career as part of the Atlanta music scene. Her song "Let It Rain" was covered by Amanda Marshall. Most of her recordings appear on Daemon Records. More recently, she formed the country pop band, Sugarland, adding Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles. She left the band early in 2006 because the heavy touring did not leave her time to concentrate on her songwriting, which is her true passion.
Kristen has been a regular at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, Georgia, and has been seen in performance at Emory University - the Alma Mater of the Indigo Girls. Along with Hall, other New Folk artists like Krona(Dennis Carlson/Jason Goodman) have also been known to perform at Emory - most recently in the Planetarium during their 2007 Concert sponsored by the SACC of Atlanta.
In July 2008, Hall filed a lawsuit for $1.5 million against the two current members of Sugarland. According to the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Atlanta, Hall has an agreement with Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush to equally share profits and losses, and claims that she has been excluded from the group's profits since her departure in 2005 to pursue her solo career.
