About Georgia Perimeter College

Georgia Perimeter College is a two-year associate degree-granting unit of the University System of Georgia. GPC has multiple campus locations on the north and east side of metro Atlanta.

The instutution was founded by the DeKalb County Board of Education as DeKalb College in 1958 and offered its first classes in Clarkston, Georgia in 1964. It was renamed for Atlanta's Perimeter highway in 1997 to indicate that it no longer served only DeKalb County.

Georgia Perimeter College is the largest two-year college and the third-largest institution in the University System of Georgia. Its spring 2004 enrollment was 20,266.
