Camp Rock is a 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie. The music is written by Julie Brown, Paul Brown, Regina Hicks and Karen Gist. The movie is directed by Matthew Diamond and produced by Alan Sacks.

On January 25, 2008, during the commercials for Minutemen, it was announced that Camp Rock would debut June 20. Camp Rock was the second DCOM to air on ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney after its premiere on Disney Channel, and it is the first DCOM to air on ABC Family and be available online after its premiere on Disney Channel. The movie stars teen pop sensations the Jonas Brothers and introduces Demi Lovato for her first lead role in a film. The film averaged 8.9 million viewers on the night of its premiere, making it the second highest-rated Disney Channel original movie of all time behind High School Musical 2.

Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato) dreams of being a singer and would do anything to go to the prestigious Camp Rock. Her lucky break comes through her mother, Connie Torres (Maria Canals Barrera), who has recently started a catering business. The Camp Director, Brown Cessario (Daniel Fathers) hires her, saying Mitchie can take part in camp activities as long as she helps out in the kitchen with her mother. Mitchie arrives at Camp Rock, meeting Caitlyn Geller (Alyson Stoner), a girl who wants to be a music producer, and becomes "friends" with the egotistical Tess Tyler (Meaghan Jette Martin) and her two flunkies Peggy (Jasmine Richards) and Ella (Anna Maria Perez de Tagle). Also new at Camp Rock is that the lead singer of the popular teen band, Connect Three, Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) will be there teaching classes. Shane has recently been reported as spoiled, selfish, and demanding. His uncle Brown (the Camp Director) (along with his bandmates Nate (Nick Jonas) and Jason (Kevin Jonas) have Shane help at Camp Rock as an instructor against his will, in order to repair the tattered celebrity image of himself and the band. Mitchie then begins to lie about her family (her mother being the president of a record company in a city in China), so she can fit in with the other girls. When Shane overhears Mitchie singing her one of her songs in an empty Mess Hall, it reminds him of the type of music he likes. Along the way Mitchie and Shane become friends and go on a journey to find themselves. But, once spoiled Tess finds out about Mitchie's secret, she reveals it to everyone after a special Connect Three concert (Play My Music) and Shane is convinced that Mitchie just wanted to be friends with Shane Gray, the celebrity, and not the real Shane he thought she saw. Mitchie starts to hang out with Caitlyn and her other friends in an attempt to move on. But when Tess sees how well Mitchie is getting along with her own group, she claims they stole her charm bracelet to the camp director. Consequently, Mitchie and Caitlyn are forbidden to participate in Final Jam. The Final Jam is supposed to be the last event at Camp Rock with one winner. The winner will be able to record with Shane and the other Connect Three members. During the Final Jam, Tess's groupies Peggy and Ella see Tess's true colors and decide to sing independently. Alone, Tess begins to sing her song (2 Stars), and notices her mother in the audience, but when she sees her mother talking on the phone instead of looking at her, she backs out of her song. The winner of the Final Jam is Peggy (Here I Am), which reveals to Tess how selfish she was for not noticing such talent. When the Final Jam ends, Mitchie informs the camp director of this and he tells them he was hoping they'd catch on. Finally, at the end, Mitchie ends up singing the song that Shane was looking for (This is Me), and they sing one last final song (We Rock) together.
